Hello! I'm Grant Rousseau

Pleasant Grove, UT · (817) 709-9049 · grantgar36@gmail.com

I'm a Data Analyst with a degree in biotechnology, looking for data-based roles in the biotech/healthcare space. I have strong technical skills in data analysis and machine learning gained from 3+ years of experience working with data in cancer research, biotech startups, and clinical trials. My work includes building bioinformatics workflows, developing and deploying ML models, and turning complex datasets into clear insights. I am especially passionate about telling stories with data that help teams make decisions that can have a meaningful impact on global health outcomes.

XGBoost Model Development

Nusano, INC

I built a 99% accurate XGBoost model in PyTorch to solve a complex classification problem the linear accelerator operations team was facing. I also deployed the model on Beckhoff PLC systems.

Biblical Literalism Paper

Journal for the Scientific Study of Religion

First author of this paper examining the relationship between biblical literalism and evolution acceptance, before and after a classroom intervention. I am particulary proud of it going viral on reddit page r/science, a top 10% altmetrics impact score, and for doing all of the data analysis and visualizations for the figures.

Spatial Transcriptomics Analysis of Prostate Cancer

Washington University Saint Louis

Built pipelines for analyzing multiomic data in prostate cancer. Worked with multiple datasets and types, including 10X Genomics Xenium, CosMx, single-cell RNA, proteomics, and metabolomics data. My analysis contributed to valuable insights that allowed for 3D reconstruction of spatial data.

Box-Checking CURA

Brigham Young University

I applied for an College Undergraduate Research Award (CURA), and received a $2000 grant for an independent research project. This project encapsulated the entire scientific process, including hypothesis creation, grant/IRB writing, data analysis, and a poster presentation.

Experience

Research Data Analyst

Huntsman Cancer Institute

Abstracted 320 patient cases from Epic EHR into an electronic data capture system to create a historical control group for a clinical trial. Consistently met project timelines, contributing to $45,000 in additional research funding, while maintaing HIPAA and CITI compliance for ethical research.

July 2025 - Present

Machine Learning Engineer

Nusano, Inc

Developed and trained a deep learning model to track the payload position of a pneumatic transfer system from time series pressure data, achieving 99% accuracy. Successfully deployed the model to a Beckhoff PLC, boosting operational efficiency by 300%, and demonstrating the ability to write production-level code in a fast-paced, rapidly scaling biotechnology startup environment.

May 2025 - August 2025

Research Assistant; Scientific Communication and Biology Education

RecoEvo Research Group

Led multiple qualitative research projects exploring how scientific communication can increase public acceptance of controversial topics. Produced publication-ready visualizations and analyzed data using R, Python, and SPSS. First author of a high-impact paper with over 16,000 social media interactions and awarded a $2,000 grant to independently study academic motivation, demonstrating both research leadership and real-world impact.

February 2023 - December 2024

Bioinformatician I

Washington University Saint Louis

Analyzed large-scale genomic datasets to uncover patterns in prostate cancer biomarkers, creating publication-quality visualizations and interactive dashboards to communicate findings. Built and executed spatial transcriptomics, single-cell RNA-seq, and ATAC-seq pipelines, generating high-resolution genomic insights. Identified key regions across prostate serial sections to enable 3D reconstruction of spatial data.
